The Inconceivable Emancipation - Themes from the Vimalakirti Nirdesha
The movement in London having been so long preoccupied with the building of Sukhavati, with the setting up of cooperatives, and with the starting of classes at the London Buddhist Centre, it needed, I felt, to be lifted, at least for a few hours, to a totally different plane, a plane on which transcendental truth was conveyed by means of marvellous phantasmagoria, a plane of Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and Arhants, a plane on which Mañjuśrī spoke with Vimalakīrti, and on which the thunderlike silence reduced all discursive mental activity to nothing, and on which the ‘Inconceivable’ reigned supreme.
